What is a Bachelors’s Degree?
There are two main types of bachelor’s degrees that are awarded for completing an accredited college program of study. They are bachelor of science degrees, referred to as BS degrees, and the bachelor of arts degrees referred to as BA degrees. Bachelor’s degrees are the degrees that most students are pursuing when they enroll in a university or college in the United States.
Students pursuing bachelor’s degrees must select or declare their major by the end of their sophomore year. Students are then required to complete a certain number of courses toward their major in order to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in that major.
Students must also complete general classes of study along with their major. There are a variety of majors to choose from when earning a bachelor’s degree. Someone may choose to earn a bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, criminology, or psychology, and the list just goes on and on.
